About Us
BaminiToUnicode.com exists for one simple reason: a huge amount of Tamil content still lives inside legacy fonts like Bamini—in old Word files, PDFs, desktop publishing layouts, school notes, and printed archives that were created long before Unicode became the standard.
The problem is that legacy font text often looks “right” in one place (because the font is installed) and breaks everywhere else. It can’t be reliably indexed by search engines, read by assistive tech, or shared across modern apps. So we built a fast, clean converter that helps you move that text into proper Unicode Tamil—instantly.
What makes this converter different
- Real-time conversion: paste or type Bamini text and see Unicode output update immediately.
- Tools that match real workflows: clear input, copy output, select all, swap boxes, and a one-click reset.
- Conversion summary: quick counts (lines, approximate words, replaced characters) to sanity-check large documents.
- Privacy-first design: built to work without accounts and without needing you to “upload your document”.
- Mobile-friendly: designed to be usable on phones when you’re converting on the go.
What we care about
- Accuracy with transparency. Rule-based mappings that can be refined as edge cases are discovered.
- Speed & simplicity. A tool should feel instant, not heavyweight.
- Accessibility. Clear labels, readable UI, and keyboard-friendly interactions.
- Respect for your content. Your text is yours—our job is to help you modernize it.
What’s next
- More legacy Tamil font support (so mixed documents are easier to handle)
- Optional “reverse” tools and typing helpers for publishing workflows
- Better diagnostics (flagging likely font-mix issues before you publish)
- Download/export options for long conversions (where useful)
